Kael Mboya - Producer Songwriter Musician

Kael Mboya

is an accomplished keyboardist, composer, songwriter and producer with over 30 years of experience in the music industry. Music first tapped his ear at the tender age of six on piano.  He began learning classical pieces and quickly advanced to gospel and jazz. In 1990, his first professional gig playing in a band for a fashion show in downtown Chicago led to Kael performing and touring the U.S. and abroad as Music Director or keyboardist with many artists, including Grammy winner Malik Yusef and rapper/producer Legendary Traxster. Kael has also had the great pleasure to share the stage with the late keyboardist George Duke. His experience in many musical genres over the years provide him the versatility to add life and character to all styles of music.

Desiring a vehicle for his own unique musical expression, Kael started the band Ascendant in 2000. Ascendant has opened for Grammy nominee Meshell Ndegeocello, released 4 studio albums and several singles, including the 2021 single, It’s Not Over, which features Grammy member Angela Johnson. Always true to what the music is asking of him, Kael continues to share his musical and production talents with many established and upcoming indie artists through Ascendant Music Inc., which includes the band ASCENDANT as well as the publishing arm Ascendant Sounds (ASCAP).
