						ASCENDANT is a band and a partnership, shared between Kael Mboya Bradley and Michael Lockett, whose collective vision is to share their gifts, especially their talent and passion for music, with the world.
		Their sound is a soulful blend of R&B, rock, funk, jazz..., so expect to be moved by the funk, the groove, the mood, the beat, the energy, the fire, the essence. This is not for the surface people. ASCENDANT digs deep into the core of you and lifts you up to places you never thought you could reach.



						ASCENDANT was started by Kael Mboya Bradley as a vehicle for his musical expression. After having performed in and recorded for several bands (including David Josias' 1995 single "Mindblowin", imi Records) and having toured half the world over,
		Kael decided that it was time to put energy toward his own ideas. He is always true to what the music is asking of him; intensely passionate and dedicated, putting his heart and full energy into the creativity and expression of the music. This really comes across in their performances. "The dancing keyboardist" is full of energy when he directs the band from a danceable groove into a foot stomping vamp. Kael: "I don't direct the band per se. I am directed by the music. I don't think we (artists) write anything really. Creation does. The chords already exist. Being a part of that process, being a vessel for music to flow through, that's an artist's job. We channel it. It directs us and we have to be open and true to the spirit of it."

						Michael Lockett joined up with Kael and added a desirable element to ASCENDANT with his talents of harmony and vocal styling. He has added percussion to his already impressive vocal arsenal and songwriting abilities.
		Michael was bitten by the singing bug when he was nine years old. Once he understood how much music was a part of him, it was time to make it a career. He began singing with a local vocal group, Truce, who competed in various talent shows and clubs around Chicago. They released one single, "Pump It", with the Strictly Rhythm Records label, wrote and performed over twenty original songs and toured the U.S. and Italy. Throughout his career, singing and songwriting have allowed him to express himself honestly: his dreams, his happiness and his sorrow. Michael: "My experiences are unique to me, yet through my songs, I always hope to open a doorway to the heart of the listener, connecting us, even for only a moment."

						Originally, Aleata Holloway joined up with Kael and added her own unique style to the mix. She found a great opportunity to showcase her own music with ASCENDANT. The couple found their mutual respect for music and love for each other to be a nice balance for their lives. Aleata has since left the band but her presence will always be felt within the songs of ASCENDANT.
		ASCENDANT has brought their unique soulful sounds to many venues across the USA. They have gained fans and high ratings from music lovers due, in large part, to the dynamic musicianship displayed at their shows. The band has steadily utilized top notch musicians and become a staple in the soul music scene locally, regionally, nationally and soon to be worldwide. So wait no longer...
