"WHERE YOU ARE NOW" NAMED ONE OF THE TOP 25 RELEASES OF 2004
Soul Patrol recently selected their overall Top 25 2004 releases. ASCENDANT's album "Where You Are Now" broke the Top 10 at #9 in the overall Top 25. It also landed #2 spot on their NuSoul Top 10. ASCENDANT's album shares this honor (overall Top 25) with such notables as Prince (#6), Raphael Saadiq (#13), Chicago's own D-Erania (#14) and Queen Latifah (#1). Soul Patrol reviewed over 100 new releases during the course of 2004. There are some familiar names and not so familiar but all those on the list personify Soul Patrol's mantra of "great black music from the ancient to the future".

GERMANY'S JAZZ-NOT-JAZZ REVIEWS ASCENDANT'S ALBUM
"a passionate mixture of soul, funk, jazz with even some reggae influences present...All songs on their album Where You Are Now have a pleasant live vibe...Ascendant are obviously on a lyrical mission with their thought-provoking lyrics, something that's really missing in most of today's music..." MORE REVIEWS FROM SOUL PATROL, SOUL BROTHER RECORDS, DUSTYGROOVE

Where You Are Now - Ascendant
(Nu Soul/Real Soul)
"This is an outstanding CD release from some longtime Soul-Patrollers. Like much of the best of what the music industry classifies as "neo soul", it really sounds more like it would easily find a home on the playlist of a "progressive Black radio station circa 1975". It's just plain good music and you will be hearing much more about this group on Soul-Patrol."
-Bob Davis, Soul Patrol

"Full of 80's good time grooves like the infectious title song & the compelling 'Can't Help Myself'.. the message laden 'Make It So' & 'Friend Fa Sho' are choice mid-tempo tunes. Must mention the soulful vocals"
-Soul Brother Records

"The group are steeped in traditions that stretch back to Stevie Wonder and Earth Wind & Fire -- blending the spiritual and soulful with tight rhythms, jazzy keys, and deep vocals that shift between male and female leads, always with some nice harmonies in the background - a very positive and progressive feel"
-DustyGroove America

Bold. Dynamic. Authentic. True. Just a few words that people use to describe them and their artistry, and yet ASCENDANT is... simply that... ascendant... rising above. Since 2000, ASCENDANT has been rising above... their critics, their fears, their obstacles and creating meaningful, soulfilled music in an era when such artistic statements just aren't done but desperately needed. Take a listen to Michael Lockett's soaring highnotes or Kael Mboya Bradley's heartfelt baritone. It's there in every soul-drenched note; every colorful harmony; every thought provoking rhythm. ASCENDANT rises... and asks us all to join them in flight...
